Expedition Foods to partner international explorer Ray Zahab.

(2009-12-23)

Expedition Foods is delighted to announce their partnership with Ray Zahab’s 2010 i2P Siberian Express for Water expedition.

World renowned endurance athlete Ray will be joined by teammates Kevin Vallely and Kevin Lin for this epic journey down the 650km length of Lake Baikal in Siberia – the oldest, deepest fresh water lake in the world.

"Ray Zahab and his team are a true inspiration, and we admire their commitment to educate and inspire young people about water-specific projects in Africa. The team is attempting to complete this extraordinary 650km challenge in just 10 days. For that they need the right nutrition, and we are delighted to be providing that for Ray and his team" said Ian Williams, founder of First Choice Expedition Foods.

Ian continues, "We know that taking the right food on expeditions such as this is absolutely critical for success. We have developed products to provide the optimum amount of energy and nutrients, require the least preparation and have the highest calorie to weight ratio of any freeze-dried food on the market. We ensure our products deliver exactly what our customers need to support their activities, and those activities are often in the world's most challenging survival environments."

Zahab, speaking about the sponsorship says, "It's great to have Expedition Foods' involvement in our inaugural i2P Extraordinary Acts Expedition. Any support is hugely appreciated, but for something as critical as food, it is great to have experts like them on the team. Expedition Foods has been my brand of choice for many of my previous expeditions, but to have them contribute to the project like this is a great help."

He continues, "Our goal is to complete the expedition in the quickest time possible, and to do that not only are our nutritional requirements very specific, but the actual weight of our packs is also a big consideration. When you are carrying all your own equipment and food, every ounce makes a difference, so it's great to know we will be traveling with the lightest freeze-dried meals on the market. Of course, that they are actually very tasty is a huge morale booster in the face of one of the harshest environments on the planet. It’s definitely a happy bonus!"

The 2010 i2P Siberian Express for Water expedition begins on March 2010 and you can find out more about the expedition at www.rayzahab.com.
